When I start talking now, they'll say Mojire has come. See, you people should start advising your friends oh. Start giving them good advice but the thing is, when you advise them now, they won't hear a word, they'll say okay and do what's in their mind.

Because tell me why my friend came to me and started telling me about her boss that hasn't paid her for some time now, we're talking more than 5 months. Her boss is a tailor, and she works and lives with her. Anytime she asks for her money like this, the boss will tell her that she doesn't have money.

I was looking at everything, like okay, what's going on. What exactly is holding her back from paying her? Is it because she lives with this woman or what? And it's not that there's no work on ground oh, or customers are not coming.

Let me break this down for you because the math is not mathing. This woman has clients, the clients are paying. The shop is busy but somehow, when it's time to pay my friend her salary, suddenly she's broke? Make it make sense because I'm confused.

Now that's not even the painful part. Will you believe that when it was New Year, my friend posted a screenshot of a post her boss made about her on her status. In the post, her boss was praising her and thanking her for being hardworking. The first thing I did was to enter this girl's DM to ask if she has been paid. This girl told me no. 😭

I told her that the post her boss made about her is a bribe, a very huge one. And oloshi ni woman yen (that woman is a bastard). You didn't pay someone her money for months, it reached New Year, you're now making appreciation post about her. As to pe kini? (what does that mean?) As to pe she should forget being paid or what?

You see this thing Nigerian bosses do where they think kind words can replace actual payment? "You're so hardworking, you're so dedicated, God will bless you" meanwhile your account balance is crying like the post will pay the bills.

This girl will come and be lamenting, even giving excuses for the woman to me on her behalf. I'd be asking myself, abi they've cursed Tinuke ni (has someone cursed Tinuke?)

Like Tinuke will literally be defending this woman to me. "Maybe business is slow," "Maybe she's going through something," "She's actually very nice." And I'm just sitting there like, abi madness is doing Tinuke and her boss ni because what exactly are we doing here?

The worst of it all was Tinuke reposting the post her boss made about her and in the caption, she goes, "I'm blushing". Ahh. Laye mi! (in my life).

BLUSHING. You are BLUSHING while being owed more than FIVE MONTHS salary. Make it make sense.

The woman hasn't paid you since God knows how long and you're out here blushing like you just got a bonus. Tinuke, where is your rage? Where is your sense of self-preservation? Where is the part of your brain that says "actually, this is disrespectful"?

I know it's not as easy as it is, constantly asking to be paid but we're talking about more than 5 months here and the werey (fool) still has to do an appreciation post for someone she owes salary.

The way I'd have pretended not to see that post eh. God forbid! I would have screenshot it and sent it with "AND MY MONEY?" as the only caption. The audacity alone would have made me act up. Nkan ati blurry fun.

She wouldn't let her go oh, she wants her to keep working and wouldn't still pay her. No now!

Tinuke is just there, working, sewing, dealing with customers, getting paid in compliments and New Year shoutouts.
